Angry Birds & Frubes

We created an engaging and fun interactive experience for children and parents alike combining the world of Frubes and Angry birds in the ultimate Dance Off.

Brief

Yoplait UK and Sony Pictures joined forces to promote the release of Angry Birds to the cinema. We were tasked with creating the concept and engagement platform to help launch the Angry Birds film as well as the on-pack promotion.

Insight

It’s the timeless battle between birds and pigs — but when the game is what made them famous, how can we approach a new angle for a fun and engaging activity? Young fans of the game had their favourite characters and loved to imitate how they spoke and acted, why not learn a few neat dance moves in the process?

Concept

Everyone has their favourite Angry Bird, and how better can you show that off with your very own mask? Not content with the simple on-pack solution, we looked at how best to utilise the provided film footage and created an interactive dance-off game for everyone to play.

The Dance Off

Creating an engagement activity provided its own challenge, but the core concept was to develop a fun and interactive 'dance-off' between the birds and the pigs.

By designing a versatile and highly interactive UI, parents and their children could have fun playing the game.

The game

We developed the UI and game in-house, using assets provided by the client but creating our own unique look and feel to mix both Frubes and Angry Birds.

The game itself worked on both desktop and mobile / tablet, as the majority of users would be using touch screens to play. Players were able to select their favourite characters, place them wherever they liked, and then face the music (also selectable!) to see who could pull off the best moves.

In store activation

To increase the sense of immersion and take gamers to the next level of speed in Angry Birds and Frubes, the recent free DLC of VR has been released. This required its own logo lock-up for a launch trailer.
